The Challenge

Graduation Photos That Had to Match a Reference

A returning photographer sent a graduation set that was already culled and preselected, along with sample images showing the exact colors the client wanted: light and warm. The work was mostly about matching that reference across the whole set.

Automated tools lose detail and leave color fringing on high-contrast edges, like a gown against a bright sky, so I matched the reference by hand.

The Solution

Hand Color-Matching to the Reference

I color-matched every photo to the sample references for the soft, warm look the client wanted, keeping skin natural.

I removed color fringing by hand to keep the detail, then did skin retouching.

A Reference-Matched Set

The photos matched the light-and-warm reference and were ready to send to the client. I delivered in a couple of days.

The photographer keeps sending new shoots.
